I kicked off 2021 by reading Circe and I’m so happy I decided to give it a shot (after the countless times it was recommended on booktube). I was nervous to pick it up at first, as my first impression was that it was going to be written in that style of English where everything is super drawn out and paced slowly. You know, like the books you have to read for your english class, where you fall asleep before you can even get through the page. I so wrong!

So many things happen to, and for Circe. I’m actually so sad it’s over. It was beautiful, empowering and sad. While some people say they were disappointed by the way it ended I actually thought it was perfect.

Circe shows all women, we can overcome timidness and learn to believe in ourselves and our convictions. She shows how strength and self-love - as well as self-less love, the love of a mother can be beautiful and empowering.

Her growth throughout the book felt like my own, going from passive and people pleasing, to strong and confident the older and more experienced she grew. We go through several centuries with Circe in this book, but I could have spent an entire lifetime with her.
